The story of the good Samaritan comes to mind. The good Samaritan as you might recall from Bible sunday school found a man on the road. He had been beaten and robbed by highway thieves and left to die. The good Samaritan risked his life by getting off of his donkey and going to the victim. He gingerly turned the man over on his side and looked and saw that he was still alive. Without thinking about the consequences to his own safety, for highway men do retaliate and that is where there power over their victims and their victims families lies, lifted the bleeding man and put him on his own donkey and led him to shelter. The Inn that he chose was very accommodating since Inns have always been given protection almost like a church and only a very ignorant and inhuman person would defile an Inn or a church. The Innkeeper took him in and saw to the proper care of the man. The good Samaritan gave the Innkeeper enough money to see to his care and assured him that he would return on his next trip to see about his condition.
The story probably true as only Jesus would have to tell us whether or not it was a fable or not, illustrates the basic tenet of Jesus' ministry. To assist blindly another being for the glory of God who created us.
We have taken many lessons mankind that is from many teachers but Jesus is for us God made man.
And , therefore, we look to his story for the cause and the ultimate salvation of our own soul in attaining the rapture that is to be Christ-like.
If we now jump to civilized man's assuming that lesson and promoting it into charitable organizations like the Salvation Army, we can say that we as Christ-like are prohibited from putting a log in the way of someone else's path to Jesus.
I did a good deed many years ago and now the victim has grown ferocious and evil. Imagine telling someone I dare you to pray?
I dare you to do good.
Actually for those of us facing the horrendous attacks led by secret former victims turned pwerful attackers vastly impressed with their change in life, I say continue to do good, But don't give in to those who would make you feel like a fool for doing good. Let them have their reward on earth, we wait for our reward in heaven. Choose your own path and let it be a path that brings you personal contentment and joy and for your detractors tell them Why do you seek my company if you don't appreciate my past good deed that saved your life?
Jesus saved many lives and few were appreciative of his saving joy. Let us be like Jesus and not like the victims saved by the good Samaritan and turned out wanting the blood of his saviour since he wants his savious to be as base as he once was.
